Coaches' Corner
Coaches are reminded that all members (which includes players, parents and coaches) as well as any family guests, must abide by the policies of the Lake Simcoe Soccer Club as outlined in the 2007 Club Handbook. Please ensure that your extended team (players and parents) are aware of these policies.
Also, since all games and club events occur at the Georgina Civic Centre fields, the town by-laws must also be respected.
Byte Size Coaching
The Byte Size Coaching program is a coaching website containing a balanced and progressive curriculum designed to benefit the players and coaches alike. The curriculum should be used by both new and seasoned coaches. For the new coaches, the season plans and drills give you a one stop set up for your entire season. For the seasoned coaches, you can chose to use the whole program or customize to include in your season plan.
The user id and password were provided at the coaches meetings. If you misplaced or forgot them, please email soccerdevelopment@lakesimcoesoccer.com
Take the time to review the site and see how you can best use this incredible resource. If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know.

Coaching Clinics
We are once again hosting a Child (Level 1) coaching clinic for our House League coaches. The clinic will be at no cost to any coach who will be coaching in the house league for the 2009 outdoor season. This clinic is to further enhance the experience our coaches and players have within the house league environment.
As the clinic can only accomodate 30 participants, please get your registration in early. We are asking for a $20 deposit to hold your spot which will be returned on the day of the clinic. The $20 deposit is not refundable if you do not attend the clinic.
Each coach requires to be in appropriate dress including non-marking gym shoes and a soccer ball. There will be a working lunch so please ensure to bring lunch along with water for the day. We encourage all of our coaches to participate in the activities throughout the day as seeing and doing go a long way in the level of understanding.
You must be 16 years of age or older to participate in the coaches clinic. You can print off the registration form below and get it into our office during club hours. If you have any questions please email the clinic coordinator, Dan Logan, at soccerdevelopment@lakesimcoesoccer.com

Certification Requirements
It is important for coaches to understand player development needs at all ages. The following gives an understanding what each course is geared at:
Children's Course: Introduction to Coaching
This is for coaches working with children 6 - 10 years old.
Youth Course: Youth Coaching Methodology
This is for coaches working with youth players aged 10 - 14 years old.
Senior Course: Senior/Elite/Competitive
This is for coaches working with Senior and/or competitive registered players 14 years and older.
If you are or are planning to be a Competitive or All-Star team coach you must complete all three levels prior to coaching a Competitive/All-Star team. Each course must be taken in the proper order starting with the Child level. You will also be required to complete a 4 hour Laws of the Game Course which is mandatory in York Region. More details to follow.
The courses are very good for house league coaches especially first time coaches. They will give you very practical ways to run your practices, games, and help you plan the season. We would recommend taking the Child Class in year one and then spending the year coaching to get practice at what you have learned. Then in subsequent years you can continue with each remaining clinic level.
